Better smartphones mean bigger security threats

As smartphones start approaching speed and storage capacity that makes them even more similar to PCs, experts warn they’re going to start seeing the same level of security risks, too.
As IT starts to support those powerful devices, they should look at this checklist of key security features, from a recent NetworkWorld story:
- Remote wipe, in case phones are lost or stolen
- Native encryption capabilities that will it possible to send encrypted data over the Web
- The ability to control what apps are installed on company phones
- Anti-virus software, and
- An SSL VPN for secure access to the company’s network.
