Canon’s new desktop document scanner

The new Canon imageFORMULA DR-2020U ($695) scans at 20ppm simplex, 40ipm duplex. In addition to a 50-sheet document feeder, it includes an 8.5″ x 11.7″ flatbed platen. It has a small footprint.
The DR-2020U comes with a good bundle of applications, including Canon’s CapturePerfect software, as well as PaperPort, OmniPage SE, and Adobe Acrobat. It also feature Presto!BizCard for scanning business cards. This model has a special slot for two-sided scanning of identity and insurance cards.
This machine can be used for non-document scanning, including scan-to-email and scan-to-file.
Connectivity to a host computer is via a USB port.
Canon’s proprietary imaging software offers features such as text smoothing, deskewing, and blank page removal.
