Dell’s latest attempt to create green computing products: the bamboo computer.

Well, computers that are packaged in bamboo, anyway.

Two computers (the Inspiron Mini 10 and Mini 10v netbooks) will be shipped in boxes made from bamboo, which many experts say is more eco-friendly than cardboard. (The plant is strong and grows much faster than trees.)

The packages are also labeled to make it clear the box should be recycled.

More products will use the bamboo packaging in 2010. According to Dell, the initiative will bring significant cost savings as well as promote a green image.
