Info overload kills half of workers’ time

In any office, employees spend — many would say waste — a lot of their work days dealing with an influx of paper and digital information. Just how bad has information overload gotten?
In one recent study by Xerox and Harris interactive, government and education workers said they spend an average of 58% of the day filing, deleting or sorting information, digitally or on paper.
Obviously, that’s a lot of time that could be used for other activities. But productivity also takes a hit due to higher stress levels — 57% of the workers surveyed said not being able to locate information efficiently is more frustrating than a traffic jam.
More than a third (37%) said their organizations are “drowning in paper.”
Bottom line: Efficiently managing paper and electronic data is one way to help budget-crunched staffs do more with less.

I agree that is why there’s a need to manage work daily. Information overload is too heavy to handle and will result to inefficiency.
