The network-ready $999 Lexmark X546dtn prints at 25ppm in both color and black-and-white. PostScript and PCL support are standard, along with direct imaging of PDF and XPS files.

Paper handling consists of a maximum capacity of 1,450 sheets of input. Automatic duplexing is included. Output capacity is 150 sheets. A 50-sheet reversing document feeder is standard.

The X546dtn adopts the compact, sleeker design of the X544 models. It also runs quieter, with a sustained noise level while printing under the critical 50 decibel level.

Scan-to-email, to-file, to-FTP, and to-PDF are included. Faxing is at 33.6kbps and has more than 320 pages of fax memory.

Lexmark has introduced an 8,000-page black cartridge. Costs per page runs at 1.5¢ for black and 9.4¢ for color.
