New type of scanner … that you wear?

Scientists have begun developing a new kind of image capturing device that’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before.
It’s made out of fabric.
Researchers at MIT have created a polymer fiber angle, intensity, phase, and wavelength of light hitting it, which can be used to recreate an image — without using a lens.
The scientists say they’re not far off from a fiber that can detect color, IEEE Spectrum reports.
Described as a “shirt that can take pictures,” right now the fabric only works with nearby objects. But, as lead researcher Yoel Fink points out, “It can still see much farther than most shirts can.”
Of course, the fiber’s miles away from any practical office application, but it is a completely new approach to imaging.

Does it take pictures looking out or in? If you wear it, is it taking your picture? Is this the superman, xray vision shirt?
