Apple’s iPad has been a big hit — and not just with consumers. Businesses are also finding it can help them streamline processes and reduce paper use.
Here are three examples from a recent Bloomberg article:
- Wells Fargo – After noticing clients were using iPads to access their accounts, the bank decided to try the the device for its own internal use. It now uses the iPad to demonstrate products to potential customers, rather than paper printouts.
- SAP – The software company has used the iPad (along with the usual BlackBerrys) to “almost run a paperless office,” according to North America President Rob Enslin. The device is used for tasks such as accessing business applications, briefing documents, customer information and other data. The company also developed an app for customers that lets managers quickly approve orders.
- Mercedes-Benz – Salespeople at the auto-maker use the device on the dealership floor to present financing options to customers and close deals without having to go back to an office.
Of course, businesses should evaluate their own needs when deciding whether to purchase iPads. But enthusiasm from some companies could mean it’s worth taking a look.
