Here’s some good news: Employees actually are concerned about their wasteful printing habits. They just won’t change them until it’s easier to do so.
Three-quarters of people admit to feeling guilty about printing unnecessary pages, according to a recent survey by Lexmark. Most (84%) said they’d also prefer using devices from companies concerned about the environment.
They’d also like to use the most environmentally conscious printing option – as long as it’s easy for them – according to the global survey of 10,000 people. About 85% said they’d choose that option if given a “one-click” or “one-push” solution.
What it means for you: Employees won’t mind using printers in a green and cost-effective way. You just have to also make that the easiest way.
A little education could alo go a long way – 64% of respondents believe disposing of ink cartridges is largest cause of pollution caused by printing (it’s actually all the paper). Knowing what does the most harm could convince users to change behavior in the ways that have the biggest impact.
