In a clever ad, Xerox is diagnosing a new pandemic: Information Overload Syndrome, or IOS, a plague that victimizes businesses large and small.

There’s a funny video at www.HelpIOS.com, depicting the problems workers suffer when they’re hit with too much information.

Xerox also provides some interesting statistics, including:

  • 28% of the typical workday is wasted by interruptions caused by unnecessary information
  • More than half (53%) of people believe that less than half the info they receive is useful, and
  • 42% of people accidentally use the wrong data at least once per week.

The site, of course, also links to Xerox services that can help businesses manage the onslaught of digital and paper documents, such as Xerox DocuShare.
